The Applied Ethics Group is a reflective space dedicated to the philosophical dialogue with other disciplines about which the philosophical perspective contributes with several critical questions and conceptual clarity. The interdisciplinary character of the group implies the possibility of embarking on a dialogue between disciplines and it aims at leading philosophical reflection to the life-world. In this sense, the fact that the group belongs to the practical philosophy section reveals a philosophical practice interested in treating diverse political, economic, and social problems. The group seeks to promote debates of great importance for society, such as the environmental crisis, violence and the various forms of discrimination (racial, sexual, of class, etc.), the social and political responsibility by high level social actors and entrepreneurs, problems appertaining the social construction processes of sickness and health, human rights, the relation between humans and non-human animals, the obstacles in the effective exercise of citizenship, and many more. Furthermore, the group aspires to promote the dialogue within academia but also out of it, and in that very movement to contribute to the construction of the philosophical community but also of turning this community into an important social interlocutor.
